Intellectual History paper, with a rant about word processors included.
Some of you may remember my rant about Word last fall when I was working on my seminar papers for that semester. This time I decided to try something a little different. My Activities of the People paper was written entirely in Word, and believe it or not everything went smoothly. This paper, however, was written in OpenOffice.org 2.2 and NeoOffice 2.1 Writer, as an experiment. Now I’ve already done a whole bunch of short stories (the numbered Zero series, for instance) in Writer and found it passable for fiction writing. How well did it stand up to academic use?
Let’s just say I love .odf files, but I’m still willing to pay for Office for the forseeable future. The only thing it really had going for it was its better style support. That being said, let’s get on to the feature!
Plagarism yadda yadda. Don’t be stupid or I’ll find a way to kill you. All the basics.
