Juxtapositions: We've Moved

Sha-la-la

We finally changed hosts. As you know, we meant to do that months ago , but only when our server went down AGAIN recently were we jolted out of our inertia. To most of you, this really doesn’t mean much, does it? The desire to abandon our old host may be a personal thing only understood by Jux members, but I think everyone can appreciate the fact that the random downtime should end, as well as the increased speed of the website.

The best part of this is, our new host charges less per month and is a few thousand times better. How about that?

Anyway, there might just be a few changes around here in the next few months along with the host change. I’ve been thinking of tweaking the visual design of the website. It’s hard to believe, but our current public face is almost two years old. The first year of Jux seemed to last forever, but we’re two thirds of the way through a second one, and it seems like I just did that damn giant awards feature yesterday. Speaking of which, I guess I have to do another one of those in April…anyway, what I’m thinking about won’t be a drastic change by any means. I just want to try to keep the basic Jux look intact, while freshening up the overall look of the site a bit. I may decide it would be too much work and drop the idea completely. I’ve done that before.

The Information section is, naturally, an entire year out of date. Again. That means I’m going to have to redo the FAQ and such. Again. Oh well.

There are a few other possibilities. A Jux Entente Press website may launch as a subdomain, and would contribute the more literary features from that point on. I’m not sure if I want to do that, though. I’ve also thought of offering free hosting to smaller websites that share common themes with ours, in exchange for feature production. The only problem with that is that some people may shy away from our gaining control of their work for a year (the same amount of time we hold exclusive rights to guest features). We’ll see.

The main thing I want to say, I suppose, is that Jux is just as vibrant now as it ever has been. And that’s all that’s important.
