Defeating our auto-capitalizer is hard.
As you all know, Apple has recently come under fire for the fact that the batteries in original iPods die after about 18 months of extremely heavy use, and have to be replaced for $99. Pretty much like any Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer cell when used extremely heavily. As well, some people have problems with the amount battery life their iPods get. I have come up with a solution to both problems that I think you will find completely innovative.
My solution costs the exact same as the battery replacement service from Apple, since I will also be replacing your battery. However, I will not be relying on the small, but limited, lithium cells. Instead, I will give you a tried and true lead-acid battery! Not only will you now experience days of battery life, but even with constant recharging (charger extra), your battery could easily last a decade. A decade . Then you just have to get another one, or even a new iPod. Im sure youll be ready for one by 2014.
Naturally, only the truly hardcore should seek this upgrade. Some of you may find it harder to fit the iPod in your pocket, since the lead-acid battery will be somewhat larger and requires removing the back plate (meaning people with engraved iPods need to go elsewhere, or accept the loss of the personalization). For most of you, it will probably be easier to carry the iPod in a backpack. This wont be a problem at all, since Apple makes a wonderful in-line remote control for just such a purpose!
Replacing the battery ensures that most iPod accessories, including the dock, will no longer work. Im working on creating a new dock, and our own brand of carry cases, even as I write this!
Lead-acid battery replacement. Its the future.
