Because doing all this isn’t free!

Did you know that we make absolutely no money from The Jux Entente? That we are, in actuality, paying out of our (my) own pockets to please you each and every day? The store items are so marked up my Cafe Press that we sell them at cost, and in case you didn’t know, we loathe online ads. No matter what happens, Jux most likely isn’t going to go away. But I think we’ve finally found a way that you, our readers, could help us out when it comes to financing it.

I’ve decided to try a Jux Entente email fund drive. For exactly $1 a month, you will gain all of the following:

1) A 10 megabyte email mailbox at The Jux Entente, i.e., “yourchoice@juxentente.com”.

2) Unlimited email aliases. For example, your account name will be yourchoice@juxentente.com, but we could also set up jillybill@juxentente.com and tofugarden@juxentente.com to point to that address, at no extra cost. You can have as many email addresses as you want.

3) POP mail access. Unlike Yahoo or Hotmail, you could access your email from any popular mail client, such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora, or Mac OSX Mail.

4) Webmail access. You can access your email from anywhere with an internet connection, in an ad-free environment.

5) Full account control. Want to have your Jux Entente email address forward mail to one of your existing ones? Fine. You can also use vacation responders and other features not offered by freemail services.

6) Your Jux Entente email address will work with services that don’t allow you to enter a free email address; Everything from setting up an eBay account (requires a credit card if you use a freemail address) to registering an IRC channel.

Best of all, you’ll be making sure the Jux Entente is always here. $1 a month is nothing, right? Well, if only five people sign up for Jux Entente email addresses, we will be able to pay our hosting costs each month. One more person would let us pay our annual domain registration costs. And don’t think we’re planning to profit by this; in the event the proceeds actually exceed our costs, all the money gained from this fundraiser will be used to further the Jux Entente, whether it be by buying ads to increase traffic or by offering interesting new things to our readers. Free stickers, all around! In all seriousness, if just a few of you signed up, it would be a great help to us.

Right now we would prefer payments to be through Paypal, but we can set up alternatives in the email if that doesn’t work for you. Also, you don’t have to worry about remembering an annoying $1 payment every month if you don’t want to…you can pay as much in advance as you like. Donating $12 gives you a year, just as you would expect.
