Today, everyone knows that conservatives are against abortion, for various reasons. But one thing you learn if you read history is that over time, people’s ideals change. What we think of as conservative today isn’t what conservatism has always meant. When abortion was first becoming popular, it was the very same conservative movement that fueled the boom!

Of course, this was almost a century ago now, and is such a forgotten bit of history that I didn’t even know it until I unearthed a newspaper advertisement in an old city building. You see, when abortion was first practiced en masse, it was used as a tool for young women to regain their virtue after they were knocked up. How about that? The bun in the improper oven would simply be purged before anyone but the parents and the girl knew anything about it, and life would go on.
