For about the past year, I've be…

For about the past year, I’ve been wondering if I’ve been losing the gamer in me. True, I’ve never been so busy. But why haven’t I been drooling over games as much? Why do I no longer consume GameSpot like crazy?

I think it’s the crap that’s coming out. I was still 0wned by Silent Hill 4, after all, and Rome: Total War seems bitchin’. But I used to get every square game, instant like. Square doesn’t produce that many games anymore. There’s not been a new real Resident Evil game in forever. Although I haven’t picked up Pikmin 2 yet, I got most of my first party games from Nintendo at Christmas and consumed them then.

Basically, I think there’s been a slump this generation that no one has talked about. When the war started, everyone was trying to knock everyone else right out of the ring. Now that the focus has shifted to what’s going to happen next, releases are less important. This is not what happened at the end of the last generation, what with the “Summer of Square” in 2000 and all.
